Year 8 trips to Tate Modern art gallery and St Paul's Cathedral

22nd May 2023

On Tuesday 16th May Y8 pupils visited the Tate Modern art gallery and St Paul's Cathedral.  At Tate pupils examined how the issues affecting the world and our lives can be expressed in some many ways.  At St Paul's pupils saw how Wren's masterpiece of mathematics and stone expressed the glory of God and showed people of faith and no faith how to look beyond themselves and occupy sacred space.  Pupils appreciated the contrasting structures facing each other, as they do, across the Millennium Bridge.  It was a wonderful fusion of art and history, a fine example of cross curricular links, one of the hallmarks of St Michael's School.  Pupil behaviour was perfect and the fine weather was most welcome.

Love one another, as I have loved you
