Thank you for visiting our website and I hope you find the information you require here, although to get a true impression of the many strengths and outstanding features of St. Michael’s Catholic Grammar School – you will have to visit us at one of our open days!

St. Michael’s is a very special place; it is first and foremost a Catholic school; the ethos implanted here by the Sisters of the Poor Child Jesus who founded this school. Today we are proud to be a Loreto school and are inspired to make this world a better place by the example of Mary Ward. The trustees, governors and staff are committed to enabling our students become the person God intended them to be; supporting them to make sense of this complex world and to seek out their unique purpose in life. St Michael’s is a place of spiritual formation – we recognise that Jesus has taught us that we should “love one another as he loved us” – and this gives a focus to the pastoral support we offer our young people.

Important Notices

Hot Weather Protocol in place:

OPEN EVENING POSTPONED - Due to the very high temperatures forecast for this week we have made the decision to postpone our Open Evening until Monday 13 July. The timings will remain the same. We are disappointed to have to change the date at short notice but feel the safety of visitors, student volunteers and staff is of utmost importance. Please note the change to the date of the Open Evening does not affect our published admission arrangements and the closing date for applications to sit the entrance tests for Year 7 entry in September 2027 remains at 4pm on Tuesday 7 July 2026. Due to the high temperatures expected this week (and specifically the Weather Warnings for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday), we need to take action to mitigate the impact of the heat on our students and staff. We will be implementing our Bad Weather Protocol for these three days. Friday will be a normal day, although we will keep this under review as the week progresses. The Bad Weather Protocol can be seen under Policies on the school website. In summary: the school day is normal until the end of period 5 (12:55pm) at which point all students go to PM registration and are then dismissed (and so go home just after 1pm). By taking this action, students avoid being in school during the hottest part of the day.
