Year 12 Chemistry Students Participate in the RSC Schools’ Analyst Competition 2026

15th June 2026

Our Year 12 Chemistry students recently took part in the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) Schools’ Analyst Competition, where students had the opportunity to apply their practical chemistry skills to a range of real-world analytical challenges.

During this full-day event, students investigated the caffeine content of coffee using titration techniques, identified lipstick samples using thin-layer chromatography (TLC), and carried out the analysis of cream samples.

The competition provided an excellent opportunity for students to experience analytical chemistry beyond the A-level curriculum and to develop their practical and investigative skills in a professional context.

Students greatly appreciated the hands-on nature of the activities and felt that they learned a great deal from the experience.

Love one another, as I have loved you
