The Religious Education Curriculum
Religious Education is at the very centre of the planned curriculum – it is predominantly taught by subject specialists throughout the school. It has two dedicated teaching rooms as well as office areas, Chaplain’s office and a beautiful school Chapel.
All students study RE throughout the school, including AQA GCSE Religious Studies B, for which results are better than core subjects (97% for RE, 85% for Maths, 81% for English and 83% for English Literature).
At A Level, Religious Studies is offered in the Sixth Form, again, results are outstanding and as good as if not better than all other subjects (74% A*/A and 81% A*/B compared to 50% and 84% for all A Levels).
All students in the Sixth Form follow the Core RE programme consisting of units reflecting Catholic social issues; this is influenced by the NOCN programme and all topics taught are in line with the expectations of the Bishop’s Conference of England and Wales. The teachers are largely drawn from the RE department and members of the Senior Leadership Team.
