St Michael's students join Citizens UK partners at Iftar at Hendon School

10th March 2026

On Tuesday 10th March, 12 St. Michael's sixth form students joined Mr Hinnem, Ms Ozer and Mr Mukthar at Hendon School to celebrate Iftar, the daily meal that marks the breaking of the Ramadan fast. The students were joined by hundreds of Muslim and non-Muslim members of the Hendon community - the event allowed the students to enjoy the break of the fast with Muslim staff and Muslim sixth form students, learn more about Ramadan and the social teaching of Islam, and to experience some excellent food and hospitaility.

The students attended the event through St. Michael's membership of Citizens UK, a grassroots alliance of local community organisations (including schools and faith groups) from across the UK that work together for social justice. We are looking forward to working further with our partners in North London Citizens (https://www.citizensuk.org/chapters/north-london/) to campaign on the issues at the heart of Catholic Social Teaching, especially promoting human dignity and the Common Good in solidarity with each other.

Love one another, as I have loved you
