Admissions 2027-28

OPEN EVENING 2026

Our Year 7 Open Evening will be held on Wednesday 24 June 2026 5pm - 7pm.  Further details will be made available nearer the time.

APPLYING FOR SEPTEMBER 2027 ENTRY

Following consultation our admission arrangements have been updated for September 2027 onwards.  Please read the Admission Policy below to ensure you provide the correct documents.

From September 2027 entry onwards applicants applying as Baptised Catholic girls from a Practising Catholic family must provide a Certificate of Baptism in the Catholic Church and Certificate of Catholic Practice (dated within 3 months of applying) to meet the criteria of Baptised Catholic girls from a Practising Catholic family.

Applications to sit the entrance tests for September 2027 entry can be made via our online application form.  Applications will open on Tuesday 14 April and a link will be available here from that date.

PLEASE NOTE: You will need to register and, once you have confirmed your email address, complete and submit the application form.  Registering on the system does not constitute making an application.  We are unable to accept online applications that are not completed and submitted by the deadline.

The deadline for applications to be received is 4pm on TUESDAY 7 JULY 2026.  The online application and all associated forms must be received by this deadline to be accepted.  Late applications cannot be accepted.

Certificate of Catholic Practice
The Certificate of Catholic Practice should be signed by your Parish Priest and dated within 3 months of the date of application.  The original paper signed version of the Certificate of Catholic Practice must be delivered to the School Office by the deadline, either in person or by post.  If posting we recommend you use a tracking service and obtain proof of posting.  Please ensure you pay the correct postage as the school is unable to pay unpaid fees to have post delivered.  It is the responsibility of the parent/carer to ensure the original document is submitted on time.  We do not accept electronic or emailed copies of the Certificate of Catholic Practice. Certificates of Catholic Practice received after the deadline will not be accepted and the application will be incomplete.

The School Office is open from 8am to 4.15pm Monday to Thursday and 8am to 4.00pm on Fridays.  The School Office will be closed on Monday 3 May and from Monday 31 May to Friday 4 June.  Please do not attempt to deliver the Certificate of Catholic Practice on any of these dates as no one will be available to ensure it is received.

Oversubscription Criteria
The Certificate of Catholic Practice must be received in the School Office and Certificate of Baptism uploaded to the application form by the closing date in order for your daughter’s application to meet the criteria of Baptised Catholic girl from a Practising Catholic family.  If your daughter was baptised in another faith but is now a Practising Catholic, you will need to provide a Certificate of Reception into the full communion of the Catholic Church, in lieu of a Certificate of Baptism in the Catholic Church.  Historically we are oversubscribed with applicants to sit entrance tests and apply our oversubscription criteria to applications.

 Applying out of age group
Applications for a child to be educated out of her age group will be considered by governors on an individual basis and assessed in accordance with government guidelines.  Parents/carers should write to the Chair of Governors via admissions@st-michaels. barnet.sch.uk giving reasons and providing compelling evidence prior to submitting their application form.

 Pupil Premium Eligibility
Parents should notify the School of Pupil Premium eligibility at the time of applying.  Evidence of eligibility must be provided in the form of a letter from the girl's primary school confirming they are registered as in receipt of Pupil Premium.

 LAC/PLAC Eligibility
Parents should notify the School of Looked After or Previously Looked After eligibility at the time of applying.  Evidence of eligibility must be provided for the criteria to be applied.

 Access Arrangements for Entrance Tests
Parents should inform the School's Admissions Administrator before the date of the tests if their child is currently eligible for access arrangements for tests they complete in primary school.  Extra time is only given if the child's need is supported by relevant documentary evidence, such as:

  •  An EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan);
  • A statement from the primary school SENDCO outlining the special educational need and that extra time in tests is the current way of working for the child;

This is to mirror as closely as possible JCQ guidance for public examinations.  Unless appropriate documentary evidence is supplied then the school will not be able to award extra time.  It is the parent/carer's duty to ensure that the evidence is submitted to the School in good time.  Confirmation of the requirement will always be sought from the SENDCO at the child's primary school.  Test papers to assist visually impaired candidates will be made available.

 ENTRANCE TESTS

Entrance tests for September 2027 entry (by invitation only) will be held on Friday 11 September 2026.  Applicants must be available to sit the tests in person at the School on this date.

FAMILIARISATION PAPERS

Familiarisation papers for the multiple choice entrance tests can be found here (Entrance Exam Familiarisation Papers).  The English test is a written paper, not multiple choice, and we do not provide a familiarisation paper.  We are unable to provide any further information on the style and timings for each paper.
