Welcome to St Michael’s Parents’ Association (PA) which all parents at the school can automatically be members. We are really fortunate to have such a thriving PA that is an integral part of the school community. Essentially we are a happy group of collaborative, dedicated parents along with Mrs Sheehy, Deputy Head teacher who work together to extend the school community whilst raising much needed funds to improve school facilities and helping St Michaels pupils continue to thrive.
Our Role is overwhelmingly social and involves organising events for everyone to enjoy. This ranges from the Year 7 Welcome Barbeque, Race Night, Family Challenge Night, the more competitive Quiz Night and Easter Raffle. Recently we raised almost £16,000 at our hugely successful Christmas Fayre.
The aims of the PA are;
- Social - Providing events where parents, teachers and friends of St Michael’s community can get to know one another.
- Fundraising – By organising events to provide funds which contributes towards pupils education.
- To be of service by volunteering to contribute towards the school environment.
Meetings are usually held once a month at school. They start at 7.30pm sharp and normally finish by 8.45pm.
Any help before events that take place throughout the year is very valuable. Many hands really does make light work to help smooth running of events, even if you can’t get to the school for meetings there will undoubtedly always be roles behind the scenes. As well as meeting other parents you can put your skills to use for a noble cause – our pupils of St Michael’s School.
The AGM (Annual General Meeting) of the Association will be held in May and people are invited to be nominated for the positions of Chair, Vice chair, Treasurer, Secretary and Committee Members.
Over the past year, The PA has contributed £30,777 to the school which was used for the refurbishment of the Curie Science laboratory, a brand new mini bus, two gazebos, Christmas tree/lights, a Fridge and more recently we contributed funds towards computers for the library and sixth form.
Year Group Reps and Volunteers.
We encourage each Year group to have its own PA representatives consisting of parents responsible for recruiting volunteers and providing two way communication with the PA and the year group as required. We would like to receive support from all parents and are always happy to engage new suggestions for future events.
Please come and attend meetings or get involved even on an ad hoc basis or email email@example.com everyone is very welcome and all help is extremely appreciated.
