St. Michael's Parents' Association

We are a thriving Parents' Association, raising money for St. Michael's through many different fundraising events - Barbeques, Family Challenge and Quiz Nights, Wine Tasting, Golf Days, Indulgence Evenings, Fashion Shows and the Christmas Bazaar, to name a few.
As a result of our activities, we have been able to support the purchase of the school minibus, computers for the Library, equipment for the Sports Hall and the new Music Suite, and the School's ICT infrastructure upgrade. We are always looking for new ideas and new members.

I would also like to draw your attention to the new St Michaels Parent's Association email account which has been changed to stmpaN12@gmail.com with immediate effect.  This has been changed because Norma Hall - the previous chair has moved to pastures new for which we wish her the best of luck and thank her for her huge commitment to the Parents Association. We have been busy since the beginning of the new School Year. At our first meeting on September 14th, we welcomed several new members representing the new Year 7’s. A financial report summarising activities for the 11 months to 31 July 2015 was presented: the surplus generated in the period was £21,500; cash donations to the School (including balances brought forward from the previous year) amounted to £36,500 and £3,000 sponsorship for Speech Night. On behalf of the School, Mr Ward thanked the PA for its hard work and commitment in the past year and asked for continued support in the immediate future when the School will be facing a difficult financial situation.
Our first event for the year was the Family Challenge Night, held on October 16th, when we saw ‘healthy’ competition between families taking part in lots of mental and physical challenges. All good fun, and we raised over £750 for the School. Thanks to Year 9’s who ran the event – in particular to Greg Dryer, our Gamesmaster for the evening.
The Christmas Bazaar was held on Sunday 29th November; it was a great success, raising funds of almost £13,000. It was a sociable day when people were able to relax and enjoy themselves. Sincere thanks to everybody who supported the event: to our sponsors, Jeremy Leaf, and other corporate donors; to all parents who contributed goods and bought raffle tickets; to the dozens of people who helped out on the day; and to the punters who came along and enjoyed the amenities. Thanks also to staff, and particularly the caretakers, for all of their help.
Our Annual Quiz was held on Friday January 29th, under the stewardship of David and Helen Beach. A challenging night for participants – but good fun. The event raised over £1,000. Special thanks to David and Helen, and to all of the Year 8’s who ran the event.
